Winter Coat

My second project for The Game Assembly’s portfolio course. Made in about 4 weeks. I had a vision of making a big heavy black leather coat, that would give my character a kind of comic bookie design. However, I decided to make it easier to animate by shortening the length, and to fit the setting of a winter environment, I added the wool lining which I think highlights some warmth in the character.

I am part of The Game Assembly’s internship program. As per the agreement between the Game Industry and The Game Assembly, neither student nor company may be in contact with one another regarding internships before April 23rd. Any internship offers can be made on May 6th, at the earliest.

Layers

I utilized 4 layers of geometry for the shell based fur. Shell 1 (opacity: 1) --> Shell4 (opacity: 0.25)

The highpoly and lowpoly were separated to prevent baking errors with closely placed geometry.

Baking, before and after separating the mesh. However, the baked mesh maps had to be updated by hand.
